Orange Twist | Kristen Reavis & Chetan Patel; June 20, 2009, Second Presbyterian Church & The William Aiken House

Kristen and Chetan met while both were students at MUSC in Charleston. After dating for three years, Chetan proposed in Napa Valley, but they decided to have their wedding in the Holy City as a way to introduce Chetan’s Indian family to the place where the couple fell in love. Because Kristen grew up near the orange groves of central Florida and Chetan likes orange-flavored food and drink, they dreamed up a an orange-hued tropical theme and asked Calder Clark of Blue Moon Events to bring it together while also celebrating the pair’s different cultures. So Chetan’s mother planned a large Indian ceremony prior to the ceremony at Second Presbyterian Church, while Calder filled the William Aiken House with both shrimp and grits and Indian food, as well as an outdoor lounge featuring a live band, Top 40 hits, and Indian dance favorites. “It was definitely an adventure. We feel very blessed that so many people cared to celebrate our special day,” says Kristen.
