DAZZLING DAMES: “Events are more pleasing to the eye when they are less about matching and more about blending a range of color, texture, and patterns,” says planner Melissa Barton.

BLOOMING BEAUTY: A Charleston Bride’s Jonie LaRosee played with texture and color to create a bridal bouquet of peonies, hypericum berries, ranunculus, and hanging amaranthus.

FRAMEWORKS: For an altar in keeping with the rainbow-hued palette of Casey Moore and Zach Tarrant’s Middleton Place nuptials, A Charleston Bride dressed a bamboo arbor in wild smilax, Spanish moss, pink and coral spray roses, white and blue hydrangea, purple lisianthus, yellow solidago, and more.

HANGING GARDEN: Flower-filled canning jars hung on chairs along the aisle, lending a touch of Southern style.

STYLISH SET: The bride stunned in a classic Augusta Jones gown (available in Charleston through Gown Boutique of Charleston) while a pocket square from Etsy gave a pop of color to the groom’s J.Crew suit.

SOFT TOUCH: Multi-colored ribbons added a cheery feel to classic wooden chairs.

FRINGE BENEFITS: Programs by Studio R were looped with ribbons that repeated the colors of the ceremony site.

Casey Moore & Zach Tarrant

While most brides go into wedding planning with a pair of favorite color choices, Casey Moore wanted as many hues as possible. Luckily, she and her fiancé Zach Tarrant were set to wed at Middleton Place plantation when the gardens were in the height of their blooming splendor. “Flowers were high on our list; I wanted lots of them everywhere,” Casey says. The creative couple—both SCAD grads—chose purple, green, blue, and pink, and, with the help of the crew from A Charleston Bride, picked two fabrics to pull everything together. “We searched high and low to find the perfect color-saturated samples,” says planner Melissa Barton. The material topped honey pot favors and inspired the wedding cake design, too. From the bridesmaids’ frocks to the ribbons streamers, Casey and Zach’s wedding was a celebration of color. “I wanted to feel like I was Mary from The Secret Garden—and I did!” says Casey.
