For Kendall Casey and James Mayo, who met and fell in love in Charleston, a Lowcountry wedding seemed only appropriate. The Jacksonville, Florida residents chose Boone Hall Plantation for their September 12, 2009 nuptials for its casual outdoor elegance and charm.
Kendall, inspired by the lush hues of bittersweet berries, with their reddish-orange color and golden husks, asked A Charleston Bride to incorporate them throughout the day. Thus the berries made their debut on the save-the-date cards crafted by the stationer Studio R Design and were later recreated on the three-tiered chocolate cake from The Cake Stand. Vibrant orange, coral, and peach shades graced everything from the fabric on the ottomans in the lounge area to the tiny flower in the bride’s loose hair.
The couple kept the wedding personal with an 85-person guest list and invited everyone to the rehearsal dinner the night before to welcome them . “And on the day of the wedding, we were able to just sit back and enjoy each other,” says Kendall.
