Sweet as Honey | An Atlanta duo say “I do” in a ceremony steeped with Southern charm

Shannon Duffy & David Fahey

Honey Horn Plantation

When a mutual friend introduced Atlanta residents Shannon Duffy and David Fahey while out one night, the pair found themselves chatting and laughing together the rest of the evening. A first date then full-on courtship came soon after, and four and a half years later, David got to one knee and proposed during a vacation to Seagrove, Florida. For their nuptials, the couple zeroed in on the Lowcountry, then stumbled upon Hilton Head’s Honey Horn Plantation. “I wanted to create a perfect, Southern, rustic party,” says the bride, who added that with draping Spanish moss and tall live oaks, Honey Horn was the perfect place to bring that vision to life. On the Big Day, yellow and white blooms by Branches Design enlivened the verdant land, vintage crates and antique barrels added rustic charm to ceremony décor, and a dinner of fried chicken, pulled pork sliders, and shrimp n’ grits satisfied the newlyweds and guests alike. “There is not a day that’s gone by since the wedding that I haven’t thought about it happily,” Shannon says.
