Romance in the Ruins | Alicia Scherini & Seth Hall; November 7, 2009, Old Sheldon Church Ruins

A few years after Alicia Scherini and Seth Hall met at the Charleston law firm where they both worked, Seth proposed at the Old Sheldon Church Ruins outside Beaufort. “It struck him as the right place because it stood the test of time,” says Alicia. It was fitting, then, that they should wed there as well, in the “simple, romantic Lowcountry wedding” Alicia says she always wanted. Ashley Rhodes Events added classic, and organic touches—hydrangeas, lisianthus, and seeded eucalyptus in burlap—to the already stunning setting, and after exchanging vows, the newlyweds hosted a cocktail hour on the grounds before heading to nearby Pinckney Retreat to sample Southern fare and sip hot toddies in the crisp November air.
