Here are our favorite looks, which pair terrifically with the textured, beaded, and lace gowns that rule the runways now. James Island’s McLeod Plantation Historic Site (www.CCPRC.com/2035/McLeod-Event-Rentals) lies just across the Ashley River from downtown Charleston. The main residence includes separate upstairs bride and groom suites for pre-ceremony dressing and several downstairs gathering rooms for parties. Tents can be erected outside and the new river-front pavilion includes grills, restrooms, and more. Packages including the house, grounds, and pavilion range seasonally from $1,500-$6,000; the pavilion alone is a flat $750.
