Blair Goodman & Graham Wade

May 25, 2013

The Boathouse at Poplar Grove

When Blair Goodman met Graham Wade at Zia Taqueria on James Island through a friend, she never expected that a few years later she’d be sipping a mini champagne at Demetre (aka Sunrise) Park after saying “Yes!” to his proposal. But so it happily went. Flash forward to their Big Day, and the couple’s wedding at The Boathouse at Poplar Grove in Ravenel was the kind that makes you want to kick off our shoes, grab a Mason jar of lemonade, and soak up some relaxed Southern charm. Yellow-and-white striped grosgrain ribbons tied to the ceremony chairs fluttered in the Lowcountry breeze as Graham’s father—a Presbyterian minister—presided over the vows. “We couldn’t have done it without our family and friends,” says Blair, “and I loved looking around our wedding and reception knowing that my mom and grandmother sewed all of our table runners, that Graham and I potted all the succulent centerpieces, and that our brothers provided all the sweat equity to set up the tables and chairs.” Everyone enjoyed catering from Charleston’s Three Little Birds and then danced the night away until it was time for the new Mr. & Mrs. to depart through a tunnel of sparklers. Laid-back and utterly darling, this wedding is every bit as sweet as the couple themselves.
