In the Limelight | The recipe for a successful Charleston wedding? Mamasita's Margaritas
Nothing starts a party like a margarita. At least that’s what the “mamas” behind Mamasita’s Margaritas (mamasitasmargaritas.com) believe. Elizabeth Bowron and Elise Mayberry got their start in the mobile booze biz when they discovered their mutual affinity for that magical blend of tequila, orange liqueur, and lime. But their wheels really got turning when they realized Elise’s retired horse trailer (nicknamed “Penny” after her first pony) could make the perfect rolling bar.

And lucky for you, because the mamas use only the freshest ingredients to serve up a delectable lineup that’s primed for summer weddings. Options include their signature lime-laced magarita, “The Wilbur”—named for their resident donkey and mascot—and riffs off other classics, like a piña colada called the Piña Coco, a red wine “Sanga-Rita,” and a bloody “ma-rita” rimmed with bacon-salt and dubbed “The Queen.”

Book the outfit and one of the mamas (joined by two or more certified bartenders, depending on the number of guests) arrive to serve up your dream drinks. Events start at $500 and rates rise based on the head count and flavors selected. The only caveat? Your venue must allow food trucks and be able to accommodate the large truck that tows in Penny. Once she’s parked, though, it’s simply a matter of ponying up to the bar.

It’s a Wonderful World

New food truck collective Wonder Trucks (wondertrucks.com) helps couples shop local mobile food and bar options (think Rebel Taqueria, Oh So Gelato, and Chug-a-Lug Wagon) by price range, cuisine, etc., and acts as the go-between to negotiate the best option for the occasion at hand. With a promised 24-hour turnaround on event proposals, the concierge service simplifies booking what is often a tricky-to-pin-down culinary scene. Check them out for any of your wedding weekend happenings.
