Brittany & Joe | Legare Waring House

Sometimes Cupid himself works his magic, and sometimes puppies have to step in and act in his stead. Without the canine dynamic duo of Stella and Bella and there matchmaking at the dog park, their owners, Brittany and Joe, may never have met. (A new take on “puppy love.”) Five years later, Joe planned the perfect proposal … but the ring didn’t show up in time! With ring finally in hand after six more patient months, Joe popped the question before a Dave Matthews Band concert, one of the couple’s favorite bands. Brittany (from Wisconsin) and Joe (from Columbia, South Carolina) were living in Dallas at the time, so they knew whatever city they picked for their wedding would be a vacation for their guests. They’d always loved Charleston and suspected it was a sure-fire hit for friends and family too, but it was the antiques, flora, and antebellum architecture of the Legare Waring House that sealed the Lowcountry deal. Brittany’s key word when planning the event was “fun,” which we can see played out in the bright flowers from Pretty Petals of Charleston, a restored 1950s mint-green Supercoach bus, and some fabulous moves on the dance floor. Photo displays were an intentional décor item—some to honor important people who had passed away, and some for introduction—since Brittany or Joe didn’t live in the areas they grew up in, many friends and family members hadn’t met the spouse-to-be before the Big Day. Of course, a picture of Stella and Bella made it into the collage. The gorgeous spring wedding was romantic and smooth sailing—so, maybe cupid himself had a hand in their love story after all.
