Bissell & Jack | Yeamans Hall

Bissell and Jack may live in Atlanta, but Charleston has played a large part in their relationship, from their dating days through their engagement and now with their wedding. Bissell’s mother is originally from Charleston, so she grew up spending her summers on Sullivan’s Island. She met Jack back in Atlanta, where the two worked at the same restaurant. One night, Jack bet Bissell a drink that it wasn’t going to rain. (Hello, Casanova.) It did, he paid up, the two hit it off, and their romance was in motion. When Bissell was accepted to nursing school at the Medical University of South Carolina, she moved to the Holy City for two years; Jack visited as often as possible, and he managed to work in a few rounds of golf at Yeamans Hall in the process. When the couple was back in Atlanta for good, they still made trips this way, and on one such jaunt they found themselves at Middleton Place for the finale of the annual Spoleto Festival U.S.A arts festival. Sitting in the gardens on a bench overlooking the Ashley River, Jack popped the question, then chased that with champagne and a picnic, all in sync with the festival’s fireworks. For their wedding, they returned to the picturesque Yeamans Hall, where the focus was on the elegantly pared back basics: a beautiful venue, a great band, an open bar, and a couple committing to one another. Rain, which had originally brought them together, made an appearance as well, but Bissell says it was actually peaceful and credits Anne Rhett Photography with capturing these gorgeous photos despite the weather. Cheers to these easy-going newlyweds!
