Holly Fry and Keeling “Keo” Brown’s love story has unfolded against a tapestry of buzzing city backdrops. The two first met in Washington, DC, in 2017, where they’d moved from their hometowns of Atlanta (her) and Telluride, Colorado (him). When, coincidentally, jobs relocated them both to New York, the two continued spending time together. Along the way, their friendship blossomed into love. After two years of dating, an 18-month engagement, and a summertime wedding, the couple now resides in Louisville, Kentucky, where he works in finance and strategy for Jack Daniel’s at Brown-Forman Corporation and she’s a legal manager for a global IT consulting firm.

Keo hatched his surprise proposal while in Charleston with his family. Under the guise of taking group photos at Alhambra Hall, he and Holly hopped in an old green Mercedes and drove ahead of the rest. When they arrived, he admitted no one else was coming—and dropped to one knee. Happy tears flowed, and the duo floated on cloud nine to an intimate brunch for two at Post House. But Keo wasn’t quite done with his scheming. Back at his parents’ house on Isle of Palms, a party full of loved ones waited to celebrate their engagement.

As Holly and Keo explored where to tie the knot, the Lowcountry stood out as a bright spot. Between his parents’ vacation house and his grandparents’ home in Mount Pleasant, the couple had enjoyed many visits here over the years, falling more in love with the area each time. They zeroed in on the enchanting Yeamans Hall Club and worked with planner Tara Guérard and the Soirée team to deliver the garden dinner party of their dreams.

And the alfresco evening was certainly one to remember. Beneath the twisting branches of a live oak bearing elegant swaths of Spanish moss, a carpet of yellow petals led Keo and Holly down the aisle to say, “I do.” Though thunderclouds threatened to dampen the ceremony, “the bourbon we buried a month before held off the rain,” says Holly. Vows and rings exchanged, the newlyweds whisked over to a sailcloth tent dressed for an evening of dinner and dancing. And at the night’s end, the pair sped away in the same green Mercedes that carried them to the start of this joyful adventure.
