Alana Corrado & Joseph Martignetti
September 3, 2022 • Saint Mary of the Annunciation & Hotel Bennett

From the moment they were introduced by a mutual friend at a party, Alana Corrado and Joseph Martignetti were smitten. Their romance blossomed over four years as they dated and built a life together in Boston. He popped the question one hot June day as the two strolled from Paul Revere Park to North Point Park along their favorite walking route.

Like many couples, the first step of planning their big day was deciding where the celebration would take place. But, unlike many couples, Alana and Joseph selected somewhere they’d never even set foot: Charleston. Alana’s mom—whose best friend lives in town—had visited many times, and always shared captivating photos and stories about the region’s spectacular history. And so they went on faith and a strong feeling that the Holy City was just the spot they should gather with their nearest and dearest to begin their next chapter together. They secured their venue, Hotel Bennett, sight unseen, and set about planning a classic yet memorable affair with the expert help of Ellen Cohn Robinson of Ellen Robinson Events. It was no doubt a risk, Alana admits, but one that rewarded them with an enchanting weekend to remember.

The couple pulled off their dream day on September 3, 2022, tying the knot inside Saint Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, the first Roman Catholic parish in the Carolinas and Georgia. “We are both really traditional,” Alana says, “and chose it because of our faith in the Catholic church and its amazing history.”

After they said “I do,” they passed beneath the church’s four columned-portico and hopped into a 1950s blue-hued Fiat Jolly—petite enough that the front passenger seat had to be temporarily removed to fit Alana’s ruffled ball gown with its billowing six-foot train.

Celebrations soon got underway at Hotel Bennett, where the vibe was classic, enlivened with a touch of whimsy—a balance inspired by that dreamy powder-blue wedding dress. The results were simply breathtaking: candles gleamed in glass hurricanes alongside romantic arrangements of roses, tulips, and lisianthus, while the couple’s sweetheart table was dressed in a dramatic pink-and-white-ombré floral display.
