When Charleston natives Elizabeth and James met on New Year’s Eve a decade ago, the two became fast friends, bonding over a mutual love of Harry Potter. Five years later, they finally went on their first date at Poe’s Tavern and began a long-distance relationship while James was living in DC. One spring day, while Elizabeth was at a Sullivan’s Island photo shoot for her sister’s floral design company, James surprised her with a proposal. The couple exchanged vows at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church before celebrating their union with a reception at the Governor Thomas Bennett House.
