Though both originally from the same region in Ukraine, Dmitry and Irina didn’t cross paths until they were at the DMV in Charleston, their new hometown, where Dmitry plays soccer for Charleston United Soccer Club and Irina is a nurse at MUSC. Approximately a year later, Dmitry popped the question on Irina’s apartment balcony. They held their ceremony and reception at Old Wide Awake Plantation, and though Dmitry’s family was unable to visit from Ukraine, they were connected via FaceTime to celebrate the couple.
