Both athletes at Auburn University, Courtney (who played softball) spied Braden (who now plays with the Indianapolis Colts) at the athlete dining hall and thereafter was persistent in trying to catch his attention. She succeeded, and three months later they started dating. The couple wed at the Montage Palmetto Bluff’s May River Chapel and held their reception across the lawn in the River House, which included an abundance of floral arrangements—a call back to Braden’s love for gardening.
