Psst! Did You Hear ... | A proposal service? Stunning wedding silhouette art? The latest in gilded shell jewelry? Read on for the Charleston buzz in all things matrimonial
BRACKISH FOR BABES
(above) When Bill Murray sported a Brackish (843/469-8833; BrackishBowties.com) bow tie to Amal and George Clooney’s Venetian wedding, the Charleston brand went mainstream and then some. And now the ladies can get in on the red carpet feathered staple with the line’s new earrings, bracelets, and cuffs. Made of sustainably sourced plumage, skate skin, and 24K gold-plated metals, the 16 pieces offered range from $95-$195. Check 'em out here. (And nope, we can't stop adding them to our fashion shoots!)

PRETTY LOVELY
(above) Low Country Luxe (912/401-4705); LowCountryLuxe.com) has won over fans with its elegantly packaged candles. The unabashedly femme offerings include the Belle of the Ball collection with a room spray that looks like something Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul would have on her nightstand (i.e. fancy, frivolous, and fabulous). Sounds like the perfect treat for or from a bride-to-be.

SHELL IT OUT
(above) Oyster shell jewlery is having its moment, but offerings usually tilt toward clunky. Luckily Laura Reed’s Margerite and Motte (MargeriteAndMotte.com; @margeriteandmotte) bucks the trend with gorgeous delicate 23K gold and shell jewelry, ideal for weddings. Make an appointment at the former Navy officer’s studio at 56 Broad Street.

A CUT ABOVE
(above) Portrait artist Ruth Monsell has decades of experience capturing subjects in oil, and while those creations have their own verve, we’re excited for what she’s added to the Charleston wedding scene with her silhouettes. Not only can she “live cut” guests at your wedding events (rates begin at $250 per hour), you can also commission bride-and-groom silhouettes. Visit her aptly named Artful Heirlooms (207/350-1020; ArtfulHeirlooms.com) for a look, and check out the guest sign-in options, too.

PRESTO, CHANGO
(above) You know about convertible frocks—those that can be worn a bazillion different ways—but did you know that MORPH Clothing (@morph_clothing; MorphClothing.com) is based here in Charleston? Its Capsule dress can morph (get it?) into 50 looks that flatter any number of figures and sizes, making it a no-brainer for bridesmaids.

FEEL-GOOD FAVORS
(above) Yes, Folly-Beach-based Queens Coast Designs (queenscoast@gmail.com; QueensCoastsDesigns.com) gives a portion of its proceeds to animal rescue efforts and yep, they reuse boxes and recycled materials when shipping, but let’s just rave a moment over creator Heather Freeman’s knockout eye for color combos, texture, and photography, even. We love her coasters (four for $56) for holding anything from jewelry to stemware and wine bottles, or even as décor. Whether you’re newlywed nesting or gifting, get you some.

A LITTLE HELP, PLEASE?
(above) If you know someone (hint-hint, nudge-nudge) looking for a little help coordinating a proposal, tag them when you comment on one of Propose Charleston’s (@proposecharleston; ProposeCharleston.com) posts. The new service, headed by one of the town’s top event pros, lines up everything from locations to photographers, musicians, fireworks, cruises, and more to make the Big Ask a big deal, no matter your budget.
