Pixie Clauson & Evan Forrest

Patricia “Pixie” Clauson and her now-husband, Evan Forrest, were close friends at the University of Virginia. After graduation, they settled in their respective cities—Pixie in Chicago, Evan in New York—but always stayed in contact. A few years later, Evan asked Pixie to join him at his brother’s wedding. She assumed it was just as a friend but, as it turned out, Evan had been playing the long game. The weekend revealed they were destined to be more than just friends.

It was during a Memorial Day weekend visit to Pixie’s parents’ house on Daniel Island that Evan initiated the next chapter of their journey together: marriage. The couple took a favorite walk around the island, this time venturing down a dock stretching over the water. “He seemed nervous, and I realized something was up,” Pixie says. She spied a wooden crate and, hoping to give him a second to gather his thoughts, opened it. Inside was a bottle of Champagne and two glasses. When she turned around, she found Evan on one knee, a ring in his hands. Upon their return to the house, another surprise: his family was waiting, eager to toast to their love.

The couple quickly deemed Daniel Island Club the ideal venue for their vows thanks to its great indoor and outdoor spaces and reputation for stellar service. And with the help of Yoj Events, it would prove the perfect blank canvas for their dreamy day: a bright fête set among a technicolor Lowcountry garden in full bloom. Pixie stunned in a graceful tulle gown by Beccar, while her bridesmaids selected their own dresses in light blue hues. Pastel ceremony arrangements popped against the soft spartina grass and lined the aisle that led Pixie and Evan to their marshfront “I do’s.”

After exchanging rings and locking lips, the newlyweds joined loved ones for an epic evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing. Entering the reception, Pixie was in awe at how Festoon translated her love of florals, with peonies, roses, delphinium, and ranunculus climbing columns, bursting from arrangements, and dripping from the dance floor ceiling. For the college-friends-turned-postgrad-sweethearts, it was an ethereal setting to relish their first few moments as a newly married couple.
