Hannah & Jonathan | Oldfield

We profiled Hannah and Jonathan’s super lovely wedding in the spring issue of Charleston Weddings, but we weren’t able to include all they had to say, and we had a ton of bonus images to share with you. Today’s the lucky day it’s all out there, just a wee little bit after the two have welcomed their first child! Enjoy all the pretty things and some fun feedback from Hannah. Cheers to one and all.

The Wedding Row: So you two are from the Philly area, and Hannah, you grew up vacationing on Hilton Head, so you know the Lowcountry. We hear you picked Oldfield because it could give your guests a Southern plantation wedding experience. (Read more about that here.) With all that background, can we jump ahead and talk fashion? Your pink Liancarlo gown was a dream. How did you get your husband into his chic ensemble?

Hannah: His tux was a gorgeous chambray and with this unique silk satin lapel. He wanted to stand out from the rest of the groomsmen, who were in navy—and let’s be honest, I wanted him to also. We worked with a stylist at Bonobos to find something tasteful and subtle. It was perfect for the day and the venue because it was a lighter fabric, and it really complemented the blush of my dress with just a touch of jazz thanks to the silk lapel. That went with what we were going for with the overall wedding: a juxtaposition of really chic black-tie features in a Lowcountry wedding—classically Southern.

TWR: Nice! Now tell us about your herald-slash-crest.

Hannah: The crest was created for us by an amazing South African artist, Arabella June (@arabellajune). Our planner Lindsey from Fox Events told us about her, and working with Arabella was one of my favorite things we did for the wedding. We used it anywhere we could: on our invitations; our welcome bag; our cake; all of our day-of printed materials. Arabella obviously incorporated Oldfield, but she also included Spanish moss, which was really important to me because that’s what I’ve always loved about Hilton Head, and the color of our flowers. My favorite is that she snuck in some really subtle clovers since we got married on St. Patrick’s Day. My dad is from the South so I tend to lean really heavy toward a lot of Southern things; like, I’m all here for a monogram. When our son is born [April 2019] I’m going to have her do a crest for him, too.
