Dana Bowen & James Edwards

October 1, 2015

When the forecast calls for days and days of rain, most folks are less than thrilled. But for James Edwards, South Carolina’s historic rainfall this past October proved perfect for his oh-so sweet proposal to Dana Bowen. The Mount Pleasant pair—who met at The Shelter Kitchen and Bar in 2013 and have been inseparable ever since—were gearing up to travel to Clemson for a football game the Saturday of the storm. A few days before they piled into the car, James surprised Dana with a pair of rain boots, which James urged her to try on. Pulling out the stuffing in one of the Wellies, she found something small and square that just happened to hold a diamond ring. Following a proposal from James and a “Yes!” from Dana, the couple FaceTimed with family before meeting a group of friends for a celebratory toast on the town. They will marry July 9, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist and host a reception at Hibernian Hall.
