Patrick and Elizabeth (Liz) were introduced by friends at the 2016 Brookhaven Beer Festival in Atlanta. One problem: British Patrick was due back on the other side of the pond five weeks later. Undaunted by the five-hour time difference and the 4,185 miles between them, the couple talked daily and met every eight weeks or so in a new spot—Rome, Dublin, and … Charleston. Two years from their first encounter, Patrick proposed on a hike in Colorado Springs. To appease visa rules, they enjoyed two weddings: first, a small exchange of “I do’s” in Liz’s hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, then a grand destination wedding here at The Gadsden House, where tables were fittingly topped with globes. Today the pair live just outside London in the United Kingdom.
