While Lauren, then a College of Charleston freshman, initially met Ryan, a sophomore at the Citadel, in 2017 through the Charleston Wesley Foundation, their love story didn’t begin until after graduation. The two reconnected in June 2022, making their relationship official during a visit to Melton Peter Demetre Park on James Island. The spot would become even more special when Ryan proposed there during a beachside picnic a year later.
