For Labor Day weekend 2012, Hilton Head natives and Atlanta residents Jordan Kostylo and Will Hengemuhle traveled to New York to visit pals. While Jordan anticipated beautiful weather and good times with friends, Will had a bit more in mind—during an evening walk along the Hudson River in Manhattan, he dropped to one knee and proposed.

Dreaming of an elegant, welcoming, and comfortable environment for their Big Day, Jordan and Will enlisted Katie Huebel of WED, whose hallmarks are just that. And as for where they would swap vows? “Mossy oaks, a cool salty breeze, and the water are everything to me,” says Jordan. To incorporate all three, the pair landed on a private waterfront home in Beaufort for the ceremony, and a mid-October date.

When Jordan and Will were pronounced husband and wife, a gospel choir broke out into “O Happy Day,” then led guests through the town’s streets to The Beaufort Inn’s Tabby Garden to continue the sweet Southern celebration. Farm tables and X-back chairs gave the site a rustic feel, while crystal chandeliers, mercury glass lamps, and sweeping strands of café lights set to dimmers added elegance. Katie had also turned the garden’s jasmine-covered arbor into a sleek hideaway—epitomizing the coziness the pair had envisioned for the evening. “At one point,” says Jordan, “Will and I took a break there and I looked out and thought about how blessed we were.”
