Lured to Brooklyn’s Gleason’s Gym for an event celebrating the history of boxing, five-foot-one Cristina, of New Jersey, asked six-foot-four JP to kindly step out of her line of sight during a boxing match. The Florida native took the opportunity to introduce himself, resulting in a date two weeks later. One happy hour drink turned into three years of courtship until JP sneakily slipped a ring on a sleeping Cristina’s finger, who awoke to a sparkling surprise and a wedding to plan.

As JP is the fourth great-grand nephew of Robert E. Lee and great-grand nephew of John P. Grace (early 20th century mayor of the Holy City), the pair had their sights set on Charleston as their ideal nuptial location. On the Big Day, timeless elegance ruled—starting with Cristina’s hand-beaded gown and her simple side-swept locks. Black-tie guests were transported to the roaring ’20s, swaying to the sounds of jazz and sipping cocktails at McCrady’s Restaurant, where candlelight, crystal chandeliers, and gold accents equaled simple sophistication.
