Joey and Wayne met at their church, St. Stephen‘s Episcopal, and dated for four years before Wayne proposed under the oaks at Middleton Place on Christmas Eve. That night, Joey also surprised Wayne with a custom painting of the duo at Middleton Place depicting almost the exact proposal scene. A year later, they exchanged vows at St. Stephen‘s before taking a horse-drawn carriage to Anson Restaurant for a reception.
