Jacqueline & Matthew | Boone Hall Plantation

When Hurricane Florence hit, Jacqueline and Matthew, only a week out from their wedding, feared the worst. With their hometown of Southport, North Carolina, completely flooded, it seemed like postponing that long-awaited day was their only option. Jacqueline had always dreamed of a Southern wedding (with sunshine, not rain), and after touring Boone Hall Plantation after getting engaged, the Spanish moss sealed the deal. Yet here she was, days away from the Big Day and the skies were looking grim. When she rang her planners at Beautiful Bride Events, they assured her that Charleston was safe from the storm and that all was well in our neck of the woods. The pair quickly raced about, packing up Matt’s truck, desperate to find a way to Charleston through their flooded town and mostly out of commission city. Miraculously, they found one street open, and there was nothing stopping these love birds from getting outta there and getting hitched. And to backtrack a bit …  as for their beginning, the duo were surprised they hadn’t crossed paths sooner. They grew up in the same town and Jacqueline’s big bro was good friends with Matt. They’d actually had minimal conversation before the start of their summer fling, when Matt grabbed her hand and twirled her around the dance floor. The two have been smitten ever since. Their long- awaited September ceremony, although near the end of summer, was still brimming with colorful flowers, crisp greenery, and creamy pinks. And the newlyweds treated every guest with true southern hospitality—an outdoor oyster shucking station, shrimp and grits, and a fan favorite, chicken and waffles to boot. Cheers to these two and their sweet pup, Winston.
