Courtney Long & Erik Milster

October 1, 2015

When Charleston native Courtney Long and Boston-born Erik Milster started chatting at a mutual friend’s house in February 2013, it didn’t take long for the then-New York City residents to click. First, they found common ground professionally—both are PR pros—and second, Erik kept Courtney in stiches all night long. “It’s one of the things I love most about him,” she says of his sense of humor. After dating in New York for a year the couple relocated to Boston, then in October 2015, they set out for a weekend getaway in Nantucket to celebrate Courtney’s birthday. Though Courtney had a hunch a proposal might accompany the trip, an onslaught of storms had her second guessing. But not one to let a little rough weather get in the way of an epic ask, Erik led Courtney out to the sandy shore and amid 40 MPH wind gusts, and with choppy seas and a stunning lighthouse as their backdrop, he popped the question. The pair will wed November 12, 2016, at the River Course at Kiawah Island.
