Blair & Matt | Engagement Session

After a weekend of weddings and travel, we are back on this chilly fall Monday with the cutest downtown Charleston e-sesh featuring Blair and Matt. These lovebirds met the summer of last year (via a mutual friend) and dated for just eight months before getting engaged. “They say, ‘When you know, you know,” and that was very much the case for us,” says bride-to-be Blair. And now for the  proposal. Matt scheduled a “client dinner” at Hall’s Chophouse and invited his gal to tag along. The pair were at Hotel Bennett for some drinks, when Matt said they must depart immediately and take a pedicab (instead of walking one block) to dinner. Half a cocktail and a pedicab ride later, Matt was on one knee asking Blair to marry him. Blair said “Yes” and was shocked when she turned to see both of their families watching from inside the restaurant.

That brings us to their warmer weather engagement session in downtown Charleston this past September. These Washington, D.C. residents hold Charleston close to their hearts and knew they had to have their photos taken by local hotshots Aaron & Jillian on the South of Broad streets. These guys love bubbly (don’t we all?), so it was only fitting to pop a bottle for the camera. According to Blair, Matt isn’t too coordinated, so as cameras were being prepped (before the countdown, might we add), Matt began pulling the cork and it shot right off. Those reactions you see are priceless, and totally genuine.

Wanting to host an engagement session downtown? Remember these wise words from the couple.

  1. Have the pictures taken when the weather has cooled off some.
  2. Have a car to move from one location to the next.
  3. Have photos snapped at at least four spots. This will let you adjust to the camera and have different environments to play off of.
  4. Get a cocktail (or pop a bottle of champagne, like us) before to help calm any pre-photo nerves.

We can’t wait to see all the pretty that comes from their Runnymede Plantation wedding next May.
