Charleston city firefighters Tian and Monai met virtually through a friend and felt love at first sight. For their first date, Tian drove from Charleston to Cary, North Carolina, to pick up Monai for dinner at a Mexican restaurant and salsa dancing. In 2018, Tian proposed to Monai on her birthday on the rooftop of Eleve, complete with flowers, champagne, and music. The two said their “I dos” at Riverfront Park’s Quarter K, with a beautiful backdrop, lanterns hanging from the oaks, and a memory tree planted in honor of lost loved ones.
