Shelby and Steve had known one another through work-related events for years, but didn’t start dating until after Steve mentioned he was single and Shelby replied, “Well, when are we going out?” A year later while dining at Gramercy Tavern during a trip to New York City, Steve had a ring sent out with the dessert—a miniature wedding cake. They held an intimate ceremony at One Broad, where Shelby’s daughter, Madison, was included in the vows. Afterward, the wedding party walked to Oak Steakhouse (owned by The Indigo Road hospitality group, of which Steve is a partner) for a dinner among family and friends. The next day, Steve, Shelby, and Madison enjoyed brunch together at Hotel Bennett, where they were staying, before the newlyweds honeymooned in Paris.
