While Anna, a Summerville native, was visiting her twin sister in California in the summer of 2017, she met Matt during a hike and sparks flew. The two dated long distance until Anna finished her studies at Auburn University and moved to California. After a family trip to Iceland, Matthew stopped at a garden on the way home from the airport and surprised Anna with a proposal. As part of their “dream Charleston wedding,” the couple were married at Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville—where Anna’s parents and grandparents were also married—and held a reception at the Mills House Hotel. The pair plan to move to Mount Pleasant this summer.
