Kristen Baker & Matthew Amis

May 4, 2019

Kristen and Matthew met at a Clemson University football game. Though they attended different schools––Kristen, a Charleston native, at Clemson and Matthew, a soccer player from the United Kingdom, at Reinhardt University––the two stayed in contact. They reconnected a year later, when Matthew took a spontaneous road trip detour to visit Kristen in Greenville, and began a six-year courtship that eventually landed the couple in Charleston. Matthew proposed at sunset on an island just behind Kristen’s parents’ home on John’s Island. The intimate ceremony and reception were also held at the waterfront home. After honeymooning in Tulum, Mexico, the couple relocated to England.
