After elementary school teacher Mackenzie was asked to dance by Chris at Voodoo in Avondale, the two dated for more than three years and bought a home together in Mount Pleasant in early 2020. Within 12 hours of moving in, the pair drove to an ocean overlook at Isle of Palms to celebrate, where Chris proposed with an aquamarine ring the couple had picked out together. Chris and Mackenzie held their wedding and reception at the South Carolina Aquarium, dancing the night away surrounded by sealife and giving away fresh honey from their beehives as favors.
