Alex and Nikki met during their junior year at the University of Dayton, eventually returning to their hometowns and dating long distance. In February 2019, Alex proposed during a private dinner at their favorite Italian restaurant, walking to a nearby bar afterward to celebrate with friends and family. Due to COVID restrictions, Nikki and Alex eloped in the Florida Keys nearly a year later, with immediate family in attendance. The couple moved to Mount Pleasant in January 2021, choosing St. Mary’s Church for a ceremony.
