When one of Morgan Dashiell’s besties wanted to fix her up with her boyfriend’s best friend, Morgan wasn’t into the idea; she wasn’t looking for a relationship. Neither was Thomas “Tom” Balestrieri, the boyfriend’s buddy. Though when their paths crossed months later at a barbecue in St. Augustine, Florida, where they live, they really hit it off. That two of Morgan’s close friends were dating two of Tom’s took the pressure off.  Fast forward six years, and that beautiful bended-knee moment was celebrated by all.

Having spent many fun weekends in Charleston, the couple said it was an easy choice for a destination wedding. Morgan knew she wanted a classic look for their special day, with mostly white and neutral hues and soft romantic lighting, and worked with the team at Pure Luxe Bride to pull it off. A clear-top tent at Lowndes Grove with a jaw-dropping chandelier installation over the head table oozed romance. To bring a note of glamour, they drew inspiration from Morgan’s stunning Ines Di Santo gown. Subtle metallics showed up in the invitation suite, wax seals, chairs, and specialty linens, and the sugar wafer paper on the cake mimicked the ruffles on her dress. From the Moet Champagne splits to the live oyster-shucking service, the evening was a sparkling win.

Top Tips

• There’s no such thing as chandelier overload. Every wedding needs a focal point, and having a chandelier installation over the head table is a romantic option that works especially well under large tents.

• If you’re going all white for your color palette, avoid a total white-out by adding dimension. A clear-top tent, airy drapery, subtle metallics, and hints of green in the florals fit the bill here.

• Let the dress speak to your design. Morgan’s dress made a statement, and the glamorous look translated into the subtle sparkle throughout, as well as the ruffled cake.
