Island Plantation Wedding | Jessica Hofford & Joey McQueeney; May 23, 2009, Prospect Hill Plantation, Edisto Island
Jessica Hofford always knew she would marry Joey McQueeney and often told her best friend as much when all three were attending Bishop England High School. Nearly 10 years later, Jessica got her wish after Joey proposed to her on Daniel Island’s Beresford Creek.

Besides choosing her groom at an early age, Jessica also always knew she would say her vows at her parents’ Edisto Island home, Prospect Hill Plantation. Armed with its history as a Sea Island cotton plantation and inspired by its rustic palette, the outdoor-loving couple enlisted the help of Ooh! Events owner Lisa Thomas and coordinator Jerri Heater to fashion their dream day. The Ooh! team combined the earthy browns of the event’s bones—its tents, furniture, and curly willow chandeliers—with pink, green, and creamy white blooms and antiques like settees and oriental rugs. The result was a sophisticated affair rife with homespun touches.

And although a storm loomed before the “I dos,” the rain stayed at bay through the ceremony. Afterward, the skies opened, but the newlyweds and their guests were undaunted as they dined on Southern specialties and later danced to the tunes of The Blue Dogs under tents. “The entire day,” says Jessica, “was truly a reflection of how much Joey and I value our families and love living in the Lowcountry.”
