Robert and Sarah hit it off immediately on a blind date at Oak Steakhouse. Their relationship was long-distance until he proposed a year later during a trip to Asheville. They wed at the Gazebo in Belmond Charleston Place and celebrated with a cocktail reception in the Cypress ballroom followed by dinner at Charleston Grill. After honeymooning in St. Martin, Sarah left her hometown of Summerville to live with Robert on Hilton Head.
