Lauren & Brent | Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

Beer, pizza, and donuts each play a pivotal role in Brent and Lauren’s romance, which hit a majorly high note last fall when they wed at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. But before we get to the big day, let’s spell out that love of good grub. First: “We met for the first time playing on the same softball team at a field on the outskirts of Philadelphia in the spring of 2016,” says Lauren. “We agree to disagree on who asked who out first, but regardless, a casual beer together after a game is how our story began.” Next: Five years later Brent presented his beloved with a pizza topped with pepperonis that spelled out “Will You Marry Me?” (FYI, while she says the subsequent ring was phenom, the pie was “D-E-L-I-S-H!”) And then: Last fall the pair were here in Charleston trading “I do’s” by the Ashley River and later celebrated at Magnolia’s carriage house with those near and dear. The gourmand capper? Six tiers of utterly decadent donuts by Swank Desserts in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. As for that puppy dog topper, that’s a figurine ode to their party-shy pooch, Watson. Bravo to this couple that obviously knows the way to each other’s heart is through the stomach and stein!
