Summer’s Top Trends
Embrace the latest in chic style when you sashay down the aisle in one of these stunning frocks

Written by Catherine Lowe and Middi Joyce

For the record, we’re taking a short break and are heading into the land of hurricane denial. Yes, we’re out there with the rest of everyone buying water, plywood, and worse, but for now? Let’s escape with some fashion... So summer may be winding down but that doesn't mean that the looks have gotten any less hot. While we’re a little sorry to see the sultry season go, we’re thrilled to share this roundup of our favorite bridal trends that can transition effortlessly into fall.

Pleats, Pleats, & More Pleats
Ruffled accents take on a pressed, posh, polished air when they are swapped for pleats. We’re digging them on the neckline, where they take on a demure, fan-like appearance. (See Carol Hannah’s gold frock above from Southern Protocol Bridal.)

Bare Shoulders
While strapless and off-the-shoulder looks are perfect ways to summer-ize classic styles, this timeless look from Modern Trousseau (center) also transitions perfectly into the fall and winter months. We love how bare shoulders let you cool off when it’s warm, and afford great layering options in chilly months.

Get Strapped
When two trends (in this case, a deep V and laced up gowns) collide, it’s a real game changer. So it goes with this Mason Hosker (right) frock, where straps form an “X” across the front for a pretty and practical way to keep your gown properly in place.

Head for a Halter
Halter tops are born for the beach. Add one to a gown and you’ve got comfort and style in every step.

Keep It Short
Humidity can be a year-round affair in the Lowcountry. Make a smart move, then, with a shortie that can be worn again for your ceremony, exit, anniversary, and even just for cocktails out.
